Two men were arrested by Cathedral City police on Monday, accused of shooting and killing a man outside an Applebee’s.

Police said the shooting happened Sunday night during a fight that involved several people who’d been inside the restaurant, which is located off Date Palm Drive south of Ramon Road. Officers arrived at the scene at around 11:30 p.m. and found that 31-year-old Ernesto Lazcano Arroyo of Cathedral City had been shot. He later died at a hospital.

Investigation led officers to a home in the 69100 block of Dinah Shore Drive in the same city, where they did surveillance.

On Monday, they arrested 33-year-old Willie Bustamante there and searched his residence. Police also arrested 30-year-old Antonio Portillo near the intersection of Indian Canyon Drive and Interstate 10 in Palm Springs. A police press release did not say who is suspected of firing the shots that hit Lazcano.

Both men resided in Cathedral City and were booked into jail on suspicion of homicide and conspiracy to commit a crime. They are each being held on a $1 million bail. Police said they are looking into other leads in the case.
