An alarming video has emerged on social media after a man and his son were reportedly killed in a plane crash, sparking a police investigation into the shocking circumstances.

In the video Garon Maia, 42, can be seen taking swigs of beer while his son, Francisco, 11, pilots their private plane in Brazil.

The footage from the twin-engine plane, valued at $1.7 million, was posted by Mr Maia on his social media. It was taken not long before the pair were killed when the plane crashed on July 29 on the state border of Rondônia and Mato Grosso, The Sun reports.

It is believed they flew out from their farm in Nova Conquista, then landed the plane to refuel, before taking off again at 5.30pm and crashing eight minutes later. It is unclear who was piloting the Beechcraft Baron 58 at that point. It is alleged the dad was going to fly his son back to his mum’s house in Campo Grande, where Francisco attended school, according to the Daily Mail.

In the footage, the dad can be heard checking if everything is “ready” as the plane is taking off, and giving his son advice while he takes control.

“Hand on the lever, hand on the lever. Keep your hand there and look at the speed,” he reportedly says in Portuguese.

Their bodies were found the following day on July 30 by rescue workers.

Wife and stepmum found dead after funeral

After the funeral on August 1, Ana Pridonik, 27, the wife of Mr Maia and stepmum to Francisco was found dead, according to local media. Police are ruling her death as a suicide by firearm.
